Language wins: A student’s journey to her dream job in a multinational English-speaking company
In 2023, English Bootcamp experienced a standout year, as students worldwide celebrated numerous personal victories after finishing the course. Today, we spotlight one such success story: the journey of Irina, a student from Bulgaria who secured a job offer after completing our program, subsequently getting the job of her dreams!
Irina, why did you want to learn English in the first place?
I learned English 20 years ago when I was in high school. I have never had a chance to practice it or to speak with native speakers. Last year I was between jobs and I decided to brush up on my knowledge. I couldn't have expected it to result in a career change!
Why did you choose English Bootcamp?
I saw Veronika's videos on Instagram and I was impressed by how easy they were to understand. I just decided that she was the right teacher for me. I chose Veronika's course because I felt it was a perfect course for me: I liked the way she taught and how passionate she was!
What surprised you the most about the Bootcamp course?
To be honest I have never believed that an online course could be effective. I think that my generation doesn't believe in distance learning or distance education which is a pity! I enjoyed the process and found it much more convenient than offline classes, I felt more connected.
Did you achieve your goals in the course?
I did! Before I joined English Bootcamp I had a lack of speaking practice, fear of mistakes, limited vocabulary, and grammar practice. On top of that, I was insecure when speaking English. I'm happy to say that this course helped me gain my confidence and get rid of the fear of making mistakes (as well as the mistakes themselves!)! And of course, my biggest language win was getting hired by an international company where fluency in English is a must!
How did you get the job?
First, I followed tips from my English Bootcamp lessons to create a professional resume. The questions asked during the interview were similar to the ones we practiced in the Bootcamp. I noticed that they used expressions that we covered in the course like “scope of responsibility” and “importance of work-life balance”. Moreover, I’d like to express my gratitude to my teacher Ian: when I mentioned that I wanted to apply for the job but was hesitant, told me “Why don’t you try?”. He convinced me that I had to be more confident and that my English wasn’t as poor as I thought at the time.
What advice do you have for other English learners who are considering joining the course?
I joined Veronika’s Bootcamp but I received much more than just an ordinary course: it was an adventure for me. After Bootcamp I improved my confidence in English. Without this course, I wouldn't even think about applying for a job in a multinational company. Join the course if you’re ready to finally take action and work on your English progress! Be ready to invest time and effort into it and it’ll pay off!
